Helter Skelter Shelter

The Pirani boys love it when Ummi gives them a challenge (groans to be heard from the older ones, "can I? can I?" from the younger ones :) ) And so as she prepared dinner, Abbi prepared to be Judge, the children were told to build a shelter:

Terms and Conditions:

-it must be made to easily house 3 yr old SBAP
-it must not fall apart when he enters it
-use anything that is portable in the house (except the trampoline)

-all items will be returned into their original places once the challenge is completed and judged

The children were divided into two teams ABAP's team (kids aged 13, 9 and 5) and QBAP's team (ages 11, 7 and 3)

The outcome was as follows:

Alhumdulillah, both shelters withstood SBAP's enthusiasm (and reflected the personalities of the group leaders' Masha'Allah), so keeping their efforts and team work in mind, the Judge declared it a TIE. So after a quick clean up operation, the family sat down to a meal of home-made tandoori chicken - Ummi's challenge of the day!

Challenge 2 : Papercup Holder

3 BAPs, 2 paper cups, some paper, paperclips, coins, thread, a strip of foil : a challenge.


The Objective was to build a structure to elevate the two cups, within 7 minutes. Well, it took a while to work together, each BAP had a opinion they insisted was best, but Alhumdulillah they finally put their ideas together and found the simplest way to do it. That's simple BAP ingenuity.

Buliding Bridges

Two squares 8 inches apart, a pack of Abbi's old visiting cards, a pair scissors and 2 baps (ABAP and QBAP). Objective: to build a bridge between the two squares - without touching the table in between and to bridge a relationship between two brothers (team work) - without touching each other's nerves!

Neither task was easy but eventually........

Alhumdulillah, the bridge withstood the test of weight (toy soldiers) and the boys tempers were slight bruised but intact, Masha'Allah.
